Thorpist
A warning to people who use horse manure. Please read the link. People who have horses and buy in their hay may have no idea of the problems aminopyralid causes. This does not affect the horses, it only affects growers using the manure and bedding from the stables. I would suggest that before using manure check it by growing two or three broad beans in pots with the manure in and as a test sow the same in good compost and compare the results. Aminopyralid distorts, curls and retards growth https://www.theguardian.com/environment/georgemonbiot/2011/jul/15/vegetables-disease-aminopyralid-pesticide Edited July 31, 2019 by Thorpist
psyko
Hi Do you think that the big DIY shops use horse manure in their compost as I have had issues with my Tomatoe plants and do look like the picture in the link Ta
Thorpist
No proof that it is in commercially produced compost but it is hard to detect without expensive testing. Evidently the best test is the sowing broad bean test. umiumi
Hey all. Im looking for someone who will deliver a couple of ton of manure / compost to the Archer Lane allotment site, there’s a drivable road around the site but only for a small flatbed - a lot of companies only deliver on large trucks and they won get round. Any contacts much appreciated.
