Boys brigade - Does it still exist?

Recommended Posts

Does the Boys brigade still exist today.

I was in Andover Street as a kid and used to go on the spring bank holiday marches to Firthpark.

They used to get a large following and it was a long walk to Firth Park from Pitsmoor in them days.

I have some old 8mm footage now transfered on to video of the march coming up Barnsley Road about 1964 with all my family and little old blonde me.

Do you think that todays kids would take part in anything like that, its hard to see an 8 year old with a boys brigade uniform on today.

grimsthorpe reform chapel 53rd company is still alive and well

i went there a log time a go

Thanks Clown for the names you gave for people on the photo. Could you say where Keith Funess and Graham Wells are on it?

Also please can you say who you are or send me a PM ?

Cheers, John

Hi Brian, Its a shame you didn't get to hear about the 75th Anniversary Reunion we had of the 53rd BB on 24 March 2007. Amongst people there were Ian & Barrie Reynolds, Joe Cooper, John Bennett ( I think) , Neil Ward, Mick & Alan Wooten, Richard & Pete Thiel, Les Cusworth, Neil Revill, Eric Foster, Gordon Kay, Kevin Dolling, Paul Warren, Bev Foster. Others as well but I can't remember names at present.

Have you seen this photo of us at Jersey in about 1960 ?

i was in the 49th company darnall in the 60,s i had some good times ,we used to go camping in some barracks at staithes near robin hoods bay had some great times with other companys at the camp.

Our Life Boys at 53rd Grimesthorpe WR Chapel used to go to Staithes every year for a weeks camp. For some reason I never went though.

It was in 2 huts near Staithes Station. I was there a few months ago and the huts are still there !
