To those with vivid memories of life in the 20th century many joked you could write a book and so he did. Alf Bonner from Stocksbridge has just had his firt book The little don Valley & beyond published. Although based on his personal experiences, the book is not an autobiography rather a detailed description of life in Stocksbridge and Deepcar before, during and after the War Years. Born in Deepcar he relives life from the 1920's onward, with a rich tapestry of memories and photographs that will resonate with many older people and should be a revelation to younger generations. This is not a bland history and Alf doesnt suffer fools and is uncompromising in his opinions. There are also interludes of earth humour that may raise eyebrows. All i can say is well worth the read..

Alf has sold hundreds since it was released this christmas and he would just like to let everyone "out of the Valley" to know of its availability before it is finally SOLD OUT. Alf will only be too glad to chat further about his book on 0114 2882128 or signed Copies are also available from The Works Lunchbox on Hunshelf Road, Stocksbridge. well worth the tenner!!!
