Does anyone know where I would get info about this?It was called the SHEFFIELD GUARDIANS CHILDRENS HOME [NO17] the cemetery was next door then at 521 was home no[20] then at 523 no[21] . Mrs H Solo Posted February 21, 2008 Share Posted February 21, 2008 My mum who has lived round that area most of her life often spoke of it. I believe it was split into boys and girls houses. I dont believe it was an ideal place to end up, indeed, today's versions aren't either. My mum knew a lady who lived in one of the houses when it had ceased to be a childrens home. milted Posted February 21, 2008 Share Posted February 21, 2008 I attended Manor Council School on City Rd from 1927 I remember "Homes children" in my class but I think the house they lived in was up Manor lane.
