Weeowen
The Stockyard at Hellaby would not be a bad choice if you are that side of town.Don't let the fact that it is a truckstop put you off.The quality of the food and the decor ect compare very well to many pubs.It beats a lot of the chains easily.really good value and nice food.http://www.transportcafe.co.uk/stockyard_transport_cafe.html
scottf
The cartwheel in brookhouse has a lovely one, although its VERY popular so get there early or book, and the three horse shoes at wickersley is also quite nice.

UKer
Although they're both quite a distance from Rotherham centre, if you like traditional pubs with real ale/good food the best I've found are the Three Tuns in Stainton (just outside Maltby heading towards Donny) and The Black Lion in Firbeck (between Maltby and Dinnington). Both are about 8 quid for a full carvery and the food/atmosphere is top in both. Of the two I prefer The Black Lion - all the food is super-scrummy!
