stereolab
Interesting little write up on how they are going into 'spin' overdrive announcing silly little right wing policies to try and divert attention from the big issues http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/revealed-how-tory-high-command-has-tried-to-spin-cameron-out-of-trouble-7661669.html Desperation is leading them to pull out meaningless stories about hating foreigners and health and safety lies to try and divert attention from their bungling. This sums it up really "There is a feeling among some of us that we should get the big announcements right rather than trying to deflect attention from mistakes with small ones." MrSmith
Now if Labour had kicked him out while they had the chance.... 11 years they have been trying to kick him out, it’s cost us millions in legal fees, it’s a sorry state of affairs when our elected leaders and courts can't get rid of this man. mj.scuba
Excellent, hopefully he will win his case and it will be a catalyst for us to withdraw from the ECHR altogether.
I1L2T3
This is not about a Tory screw-up over the handling of the case itself really. Successive governments have repeatedly and embarrassingly failed to remove the guy. It's more about the way the Tories handled the media. At noon on Wednesday Abu Qatada was on his way. Nothing was more sure. At PMQs May looked like the cat that got the cream. By 4pm that afternoon it was all a shambles. Abu Qatada was staying after all. The Tories have little substance. It's all about PR and now they get that wrong more often than not.

AbdullaJones
Excellent, hopefully he will win his case and it will be a catalyst for us to withdraw from the ECHR altogether. That would be a very dangerous thing for us to do.
Zamo
That would be a very dangerous thing for us to do. Why? What additional protections does it provide over an over that already covered by UK law?
