Odd and Even house numbers

I don't think it's true. Maybe it works as a general rule but I don't think it's planned that way.

Falconer Lane at Woodhouse Mill has a long row of terraced houses on just one side and they are numbered 1,2,3,4 etc.

It's generally true in Sheffield but not anywhere else to my knowledge

 

its the same in Grimsby and Cleethorpes
