TrashyBook
There's an article in today's Guardian listing the top 10 music venues in Sheffield. Thought someone might be interested! http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2008/may/01/uk.bars?page=all

EdnaKrabappe
Thanks for that and great to see the situationists get a bit of publicity. They obviously know their stuff about where to see local music. It's difficult as there are some other great venues; DQ for one is great for bands, Plug can't be ignored and I still like watching a band up at the uni. But good to plug the smaller places too. Mr Doctor
No Red House, or Corporation? I also wouldn't consider the Boardwalk to be that great a venue; it's a weird shape. I miss the Cricketers
Classic Rock
No mention of the Moorfoot either....I'll be having words with David Dunn!
goldenfleece
Goldenfleece will be pleased.. Cool.......The Dove is now looking for bands with a significant fan base in Sheffield, ie 50 supporters or more who are likely to show.
Classic Rock
This article is of course only one person's opinion. It's often down to the level of advertising spent by a venue and the number of reviews which are written about bands that have played at the place. I'm not saying that the venues listed aren't worth of a mention, however there are some glaringly bad omissions. Why limit it to a top 10? It just alienates the good work of other venues. goldenfleece
No Red House, or Corporation?( or indeed the new Academy which seems to be doing pretty well for itself, or maybe that is just too big, the majority of the top 10 in this list seem to be pubs or small venues.... Murph
I'm surprised the Plug's not there. I presume that's the same David Dunn who writes for the Star? Good work!
