minikez7
The Exchange - University, is it worth it? Thursday 15th May 2008, 7.30-9pm OPEN TO PUBLIC, NOT JUST STUDENTS! TICKETS £1, AVAILABLE FROM SHEFFIELD UNION BOX OFFICE NOW! We advise to get your ticket ASAP as all past events have sold out very quickly. In 2009 the Government are reviewing university fees for UK students. Some Universities are pushing for them to lift the cap and open the door to fees of £15,000 a year. Others are pushing for a review of the whole system. We’ve brought together the best line-up of speakers outside London to debate the future of university funding: • Bill Rammell MP – Minister of State for Higher Education http://tinyurl.com/5stt3a • Baroness Verma MP – Shadow Higher Education Minister http://tinyurl.com/6bnezw • Wes Streeting – NUS Vice President of Higher Education http://resource.nusonline.co.uk/media/resource/Conference2008FINAL.pdf • Professor Keith Burnett – University of Sheffield Vice Chancellor http://www.shef.ac.uk/vc/ • Professor Rick Trainor – Kings College London Vice Chancellor http://tinyurl.com/5sodzg The panel will be chaired by John O’Leary, former editor of The Times Higher Education Supplement. This is where to hear what the key players think about university funding and for students to let them know their views.
