GOLDEN OLDIE
I was born in 1942 in Northern General Hospital, then called City General. Does anyone know anything about maternity services in those days? For instance were they free or not?
Rivelin6
There is a book called Born in Sheffield- A history of the Women's Health Services 1864- 2000 published by Wharncliffe Books. I think it's still in print. You should be able to get hold of one from Waterstones - local books section, the Sheffield Scene or even the Millenium Galleries bookshop.
