msweatherwax
There used to be a fantastic bakery/sandwich shop on the site where ha ha bar now stands, had the best flapjack in the world, I seem to recall there was a shared entrance with a restaurant, open at different times? It was very near the old 'wedding cake' registry office. What happened, did they relocate and if so, where?
happyhippy
It was called "Vernons", and used to do HUGE sandwiches on proper French bread. I can't remember the name of the Italian restaurant, but somewhere on here I think there's another thread about it.

horribleblob
So did the bakery relocate? I don't think so. Pity, as they did some gorgeous vegetarian pasties.

The restaurant in the basement had a South American style to it - spicier than "just" Italian
Blue Monday
Think it was called Latino, or something similar. It was downstairs,
