casten
Hi I worked at Binghams from 1980 to 1986. I started off as a sales clerk and finished up as the bookkeeper before I left to live in London. It was a part of Northern Foods - I take it from your post that it no longer is. We were the training ground for potential managers and in the six years I worked there we had four such trainees - they knew little about the business (or managing for that matter) and were carried every step of the way by the factory manager, Derek May, and the sales manager, Peter Finn. The trainees went on to bigger and better jobs within Northern Foods. It was a nice place to work and I fondly remember some of my colleagues - Maureen May, Lee May, Paul May, John Wells, Dennis and Roy Cook, Tracey May etc etc

GOLDEN OLDIE
WE ate Binghams potted meat in the 50s. I'm sure of it! My mother bought it loose from the grocers. It was wrapped in greaseproof paper. We had it in sandwiches with HP sauce and lots of salt!
