An old thread but same question. What do people think these days?

 

On a recent visit...

 

Fox and Duck - stood at the bar for three or four minutes, no-one serving. Waited a bit longer, still no bar person. 3 customers. A shame, it used to be good. Exit to York.

 

The York - great. Not too busy so could choose where to sit for a change, but still plenty of customers. Really nice beers, ambience and service.

 

The Place - almost empty, little choice of ales but had a game of pool. Not a terrible place, but not great either.

 

Didn't visit the other three but on the basis of my last visits the Tavern is very tired now and in need of a refurb but is still potentially a great pub. As is the Nottingham but not been for ages. South Sea - always been rubbish.
