lyndix
I think thats the Nine Ladies. I don`t know, but the whole place was really odd. We used to dread dropping the lad off after work cos as soon as you entered the village it just felt weird:suspect:

Guest Wyrd
Avebury is incredible, I agree Bikertec. I went to Stonehenge (and Woodhenge) in the same year and I was disappointed. Mind you, it was fenced off so you couldnt actually get close to the stones themselves - we went on Midsummer's Eve, so I'm presuming that was the reason. frenchfrie
Much closer to home (mine at least!) there's rumoured to be an ancient stone circle up on Brown Edge / Salter Sitch which is said to be adjacent to the large cairn that is visible from totley / bradway / owler bar and most highish places south west of the city. Been up there several times and the cairn, nearby trig point etc. stand out like sore thumbs but what exactly, if anything, remains of this stone circle and how can I locate it's exact whereabouts? TIA
