Swan_Vesta
They're not bad for what they are but I dislike to contingent of drunkards who are there in some shape or form ...... I dislike it when some wretched drunk stumbles up to try and initiate a conversation with me.

sierraman
Mrs Sierraman and myself ventured into the Bankers Draft at 9.45 yesterday morning for a coffee mainly to get out of the rain whilst waiting for M&S to open. There were elderly people in their drinking pints of beer and cider at 9.45 in the morning. A couple in their early 60's sat at the next table also drinking pints of beer, were having a row! He was sat their picking his nose and eating it. She said: "I wish tha'd geaw wi that, it makes me feel badly." Amusing at the time, yes!! but that's the last time I shall venture into one of those establishments, absolutely disgusting behaviour from the low lifes that frequent those places! Mrs Sierraman hasn't stop scratching since we left there yesterday morning.

Kthebean
Bankers draft is awful. There is a nice wetherspoons in castleford called the Glassblower, it is clean with friendly staff.
purplepippa
I couldn't vote on this because my conclusion was... Wetherspoons... OK... Good for cheap, filling meal and usually somewhere to sit. Not great for quality or atmosphere.
purplepippa
Minus: The old perv sat in the corner looking down my top Soooo true! I have taken to photographing them with my phone when they perv just a bit too much. When they realise what you are doing they panic and stop! I got the idea from here: http://hollabacknyc.blogspot.com/ and have indeed had one of my own up on there! Shame my camera on my phone was rubbish. And it wasn't in Wetherspoons, it was in the Old Monk. http://hollabacknyc.blogspot.com/2007/03/hollaing-back-in-uk.html

PuressenceUK
Plus points Cheap prices (cos it's all on the verge of going off) A wide selection of real ale! (which is kept badly and tastes cack) A wide variety of other drink choices, such as real cider. (Ok yes they do have a good choice) Wetherspoon's do a very good job of sensitively refurbishing old and architecturally-interesting buildings. (erm since when?) Basic good value food. (which is always awful) If you find yourself in a strange town and see a Wetherspoons, you know what you're going to get. (pensioners, sticky carpets and people with a giro burning hole in their pocket) A good venue for group meetings (if the group meeting is for the RNIB) I'd come out in favour of Wetherspoons as being far and away the worst of the pub chains. NEKRO138
I used to hate WEtherspoons, but I've warmed to it quite a lot now and go in quite often. They have a good selection of drinks for very good prices. And the food is not bad at all for what you pay. Yeah, it's a chain, and it's a bit too identikit to go as part of my weekend night out, but on a weeknight for a couple it's fine. And the outdoor bit upstairs at the one in town is great.
