Isn't it time we changed the national anthem?

'Dragostea din tei' gets my vote. Or something by Ms.Victoria Adams. Seriously though, the recent European Championships threw the issue into sharp relief for me. Every anthem sung there was better than ours. I am particularly jealous of the Spanish and Italian ones. I'm sure that some under-employed sports psychologist could prove that the singing of our own dreary offering is a contributing factor to the repeated failures of the national team. Imagine getting gee-ed up by a full blooded Sven or Steve, and then having to endure the droll of 'God save etc'. It'd bring you right back down from the adrenaline fuelled high they'd just inspired.

 

Perhaps Jerusalem with different words. Or that one that's sung to the Jupiter Suite of the Planets?

Blimey. The poll options are some kind of hell soundtrack. Reminds me of endless 'last night of the proms' style concerts staged at school.

 

Anyway, if they changed it to Rule Britannia it'd be even more funny watching people mumble along. It's not an easy song to sing in places.
