Looking for descendants of Sanders family, Pitsmoor

Recommended Posts

Looking for descendants of not only Harry or Maurice Sanders, Pitsmoor 40s & 50s (as stated on original thread) , but also those of three other brothers and a sister, namely Joseph, Arthur, Willie and Elsie. All lived at 79 Canada Street as children at time of 1901 census.

Harry had two sons (Harry jnr & Jack), and lived at 56 Buckenham Road , Pitsmoor from at least 1946 to 1968..

Maurice/Morris was eight years older, and had at least one daughter, and a granddaughter , whose name we believe may have been Maureen.

Maurice was living at 61 Canada Street , in the fifties..

Both Harry and Maurice (Morris) worked for Mr Colley the Tripe Dresser, whose premises were adjacent to 63 Canada Street.

They had a sister named Nellie (who lived at 63 Canada Street), whose only son was Killed in Action serving with the RAF in WW2.

A relative of a fellow crew member, has already posted on here looking for relatives of Nellie’s son, in an attempt to give the crew the posthumous recognition they deserve.

My reason for posting this concurrently with Nick's original post, is that members of the Sanders family may not immediately recognise and tie up the name of Cotton as a relative. (I hadn't previously recognised there was a link between them.)

For any other descendents of Sanders from 50 -120 years ago in the Pitsmoor area, Tuppie and HughW have already done some family reasearch for you, if you go into the thread linked.

If Jack, Harry or Leonard were cousins or great Uncles of your Dad, Mum, or grandparents, then you are related and Nick would be pleased to hear from you too, especially if you can put him in touch with older surviving relatives.

Harry and Maurice had three other brothers and a sister, namely Joseph, Arthur, Willie and Elsie. All lived at 79 Canada Street as children at time of 1901 census.

They also had another sister Nellie, whose only son LEONARD COTTON was killed when his plane was shot down over Hanover in 1943. She was widowed, and lived at 63 canada Street until she died in 1971.

Apart from Nellie (the mother), the above are/were aunties / uncles of Leonard.

Please would anyone who recognises themself as a descendent of any of the above or (Harry or Jack sons of Harry; Raymond son of Arthur; or the granddaughter of Maurice- who we think was called Maureen but have no idea what her surname was), please refer to the thread below and contact Nick.

He is planning to commemorate the forthcoming seventieth anniversary of the loss, and is still trying to trace family of crew members, which any descendents of the above are.
