I am looking into a bit of family history and I am told that my mother once worked in a cheshire home around the late sixties. I am told that it was on either on abbeydale road or chesterfield road. Does anyone know if one was there, and if so what is it now?

Sasha555 again trying to research!

My mum was a house mother at the children's home certainly circa 1960. When she started, the matron was called Mrs Mason and then it changed to Mrs Moore. She, Susan Chester looks forward to hearing from anyone associated with the home at that time from fellow staff and children. Thanks.

Wish I could be of more help but as I was in the old orphanage ( now the Cheshire Home ) on Mickley Lane and left in 1954 I know nothing much about the present day Cherrytree childrens home which was the one which superceded the ne I was in. The original Cherrytree was founded by Rev. Taylor in 1866/7. I think one of the houses at the current home is called Taylor house. regards P.A.
