Carling Academy - best seats Balcony or Stalls

Don't think they ever have actual seats.. standing stalls you can obviously get to the front if you wish.. but dependant on which band you are seeing.. there's a possibility of getting squashed etc.

The balcony has a good view but only IF you get there a little early and are at the actual front on the balcony. The balcony is all on one level.. and if you are behind anyone without being able to see through a gap, I don't think you'd be able to see a thing of what's happening on stage... unless of course you are 6foot5 or something :)

Basically, at Milburn's last gig, stalls (downstairs) was all just everyone getting crushed. Balcony was just people bouncing around a little but not getting crushed :)

Stalls - standing.

Balcony is hopeless - unless you're on the front row or you are 9 feet tall you can't see the act on stage. Obviously from there you need to look downwards to the stage but the floor up there is not sloped and it will likely be 4 or 5 people deep at the barrier, so this isn't possible. Nor is it possible to go downstairs for a better view as the 2 areas are separated. So a lot (most?) of the balcony tickets they sell are effectively 'restricted view'. Not sure if it says this on tickets but maybe it should do. Though technically you could barge your way to the front, this may not be possible as the people already stood there are unlikely to move from there once they see the layout. At least on the ground floor you have a chance of seeing the band as the crowd moves about (and you are looking upwards towards the stage rather than down).

So, yes - stalls it is!
