Hi Dave.

Ive been in Guangzhou, about an hour or so drive from Macau for nearly 6 years. I set up an export company here. In the while ive been here, the only jobs westerners find here is teaching English. Most other jobs are usually appointed back home. Make sure you have enough money to last you. Things are cheap but i think you will struggle to find a job, especially now with the recession setting in. Even teaching jobs have dreid up, due to the Chinese government cracking down on teachers without qualifications.

Great place to live though if you can get yourself a job before you come. Western wages and Chinese prices.

As someone said previously, come over and have a look. See if you can find something.

Last time I was in Macau the biggest industry I saw was Gambling, with 22 casino's to support it.

Maybe you could find out if there is any connections in the UK with the gambling in Macau.

There always seems to be jobs in that industry as they work non stop 24/7.

Just an idea, hope this is helpful.

Yeah, your right, infact Macau doesn't really have too much more going on. Again i think you will find it hard getting a job there. I go down often to the casinos. Ive never seen any westerners in jobs lower than management, and they are few. Most positions are filled by Chinese, and the jobs that they dont want are given to Filipinos. I dont know what qualifications you have, if you have a degree in any subject, there are still some teaching jobs. But if you really want to make good money in teaching here you should study in the UK and get the PGCE, i think thats what its called. Salary would be around 2000 pounds per month going on todays exchange rate.

It used to be very easy to get teaching jobs here until the olympics, now just for an English teachering position they may also ask for a TEFL certificate, you can do these online,

Again if you have a degree you can apply to the British Council in London, they send many teachers to China every year, problem is, the wages are crap, maybe around 300 pounds per month, plus free accomadation, so you can live on it, probably only working 16-17 hours per week so you can get extra teaching jobs on the side, usually around 15 pounds an hour.

I went on a bit then, but im just trying to let you know how it is here. you definately haqve more chance of work in China, Macau is really not the best place
