BED was ace!

Went to the FINAL night, New Years Eve 2003 (Hed Kandi!)

What BETTER clubs have we got now?

Sheffield nightlife used to b rammed 5 years ago, but now, it's more like a ghost town in comparrison.

We had far mor choice... Niche, Bed, Fez, Republic, Takapuna (when it was gud). Clubbers everywhere, police everywhere!

I went to Bed a few times and just didn't think much of it, sorry! Only things I went to there were Drum and Bass Arena to see the hugely overrated Goldie (yawn) and the vomit inducing Hed Kandi. Can't say I miss the giant cathedral of commercial dance that went by the name of Republic either!

I'll agree with you on the Fez though, there were some good things going off there.

Headcharge at the Arches or NY Sushi at The Unit... Those were the days!

:headbang:

Was never into the commercial scene although I did go to Gatecrasher at the Republic once to see Carl Cox. The floor emptied when he came on apart from around 50 people who obviously came down just to see him... He was far to banging for all the "Crasher Kids"!

Occasions and Palias were far better, back in the early (dare I say it?) 1990s

I sound really old

The palais on london road before it was bed and music factory they had washing machines to sit on in the chill out room when you had finished waving your white gloves and whistles about!!

what about berlins when they used to spin a massive wheel for the drinks offers!! oh bring back 1994/5!!!

As an old un I read through this theme with interest, and realised that past and present did not really mean that because of the age opf the contributers, only one mention of The Mojo Pete Stringfellow's first club renowned throught the North of England and not one mention of the Fiesta the largest night club in the UK at the time of its construction. What about Shades on Ecclesall Road now Napoleon's Casino run by the infamous Max Omar and Baileys on Bank street although I don't think that was its orignal name it was the first night club to open up in the city centre. and then there was the Lacarno on London Road compleat with the palm trees. Now thats the past.
