malestrom
Went into The Monk last night as we could not think of anywhere else in town to watch the football (we now know of others) and I could not believe how manky it has become. The sofas are on their last legs, there are holes in the ceiling and it smelt horrible in there. Anyone else think it is in urgent need of a refurb? Can't understand why they have not done it while the students have gone home.
daftlad
last went in there about 4 weeks ago and the mens toilets smelled absolutely rancid
chem1st
Some of the sofas have been like that for ages, called in at 4 yesterday for a game of pool, there was about 3 people in there including staff.

HotPhil
The Old Monk near the library. Loos are usually 2-3cm deep, the whole place is filthy, floors are disgusting and it stinks. Best avoided.
chem1st
Mmmmmm! Where is the Monk? Norfolk St, next door to the brown bear. Opposite the lyceum. Round the corner from the winter gardens on the road with wicker herbal at the top. (norfolk st)
Andy C
Hmm, good for watching football, otherwise Graduate, Brown Bear, Ruskins or Circle are all much better.
