zenith888
Ernest and Cyril and Connie Crawshaw born in Crookes 1900`s Their mum in the Sheffield Star lived to be 101. Ernest played piano in a band until 21 then became a Plymouth Bretheren. The men were wire drawers and were so trustworthy they drew the precious metals into jewellers wire at Sheffield Smelting Company. Never knew nicer men than them. SueCreasey
When I was a young girl, my Grandma lived in Fairbarn Road and at the top of the road where it joined Stannigton Road was a little grocery shop run by (what I thought of then as) an old lady called Mrs Crawshaw - was she one of your relatives? It was a wonderful shop full of all your grocery needs - I can remember a huge barrel-shaped block of butter that she would cut half pound portions off and wrap it in grease-proof paper. There were tins of biscuits - the best deal was a pound of broken biscuits - and if you rummaged amongst them carefully you often find ones that were hardly broken at all!
