This may sound like a stupidly obviously question but i dont actually know where the overflow at ladybower goes to, does anyone have any pictures or videos of where it comes out or can you tell me where it comes out?

Also how far down do the holes go before the start turning off to go to there destination?

heres a picture and video of said holes in full flow

Either take a walk around the reservoir or scan in on Google Earth.

The two plug-holes descend and meet each other before seeing daylight again at the foot of the lawned reservoir wall. From there the water goes downhill toward Bamford and joins the river (near to where the Marquis Of Granby once stood).

The overflow water from the reservoir flows through the 'bellmouth' shafts into the river derwent and from there on to the river trent.

It say that on the notes of the Youtube clip.

I used to work for the water board and worked on that dam many times and I can assure you it goes back into the dam via a series of syphons.

Its just a big circle of water that goes on forever!

i beg to differ on the point that it is a syphon and re routes the water back into the reservoir, it is a baffle that allows excess water to enter the river derwent via a catchment pool and wier that is situated at the bottom of the dam wall.. dont make me evoke the ghost of Li purnell (fisheries manager) 1950 on !!! to substanciate health and safetythe facts !!! Perhaps as a severn trent worker you can muster up some plans for the dam ??? and anyone saying they have seen the church (ashopton)tower during the last 30 years is full of moo poo !! they blew it up ... Health and safety in the 70's eh ???
