pattricia
I guess with a lot of things taste is in mouth of the taster, just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However it's easy to say you don't like something If you've only tried one variety of something. As earlier mentioned if I tasted the OP's John West Lumpfish caviar and disliked it, that isn't going to mean that I won't try or like the real stuff. I suppose it's like drinking a bottle of cheap poor quality whiskey and drinking a decent quality bottle. Exactly. Theres caviar, then theres real caviar.! A world of difference. Ouija
Well not by choice, but when it is served at a dinner, I just shove it round the plate, and pretend now, if it is on a starter as a decoration, scrape it off etc. Would never order it God forbid, but with a couple of Russian friends it's impossible to avoid a lot of them time *shudders* Not even to be polite could I pretend to eat the stuff. HappyHoosier
not big on caviar, but I do love salty fishy things, just bought a jar of anchovy fillets today, oh joy of joys! Oh, yes! I love anchovies, too. I keep a tube of anchovy paste in the fridge, just in case I need a quick, fishy pick-me-up.

Kidorry
I have tried the good the bad and the downright ugly of caviars.Fresh is best and never mind the garbage they sell in cans and bottles.I prefer it with vodka & toast. It is only salty because that is the way they cure it.If you eat it before it is cured it is not salty. metaphoria
Well, I've had a 'tummy-bug', for the last couple of days-and I'm rarely ill. Yet, I think it was the caviar that made me poorly. Even the thought of it makes me feel ill.
cressida
My uncle brought some to our house when I was in my teens, can't recall the taste now but it had no effect on me at all, haven't ever bought it.

Anna B
I've tried it and thought it was awful. Is it an aquired taste like olives? (Used to hate them, now quite like them.) Edited November 25, 2021 by Anna B
