olsdad
There's a good quality folk night on Tuesdays at the Burton Street Foundation at Hillsborough up behind the New Barrack Tavern just down from the top of Barrack Hill at S6 2HH. 8.00pm start with occasional guests. There's also a good quality folk guest concert night at the Holly Bush Hollins Lane Sheffield S65GQ on Thursdays at 8.30pm, which has support singers for the opening 3/4 hour then guest performers only. The website domain name is syfolk.co.uk.

Absoloutley wonderful idea where you catch a train into the peaks with a folk band playing you on the way to the pub, at the pub and on the train home from the pub back to sheffield

Lockjaw
as quoted above get on the folk train. I think it's the last tuesday of every month. Absoloutley wonderful idea where you catch a train into the peaks with a folk band playing you on the way to the pub, at the pub and on the train home from the pub back to sheffield Hi. The folk train is on the 4th Tuesday of the Month which isn't always the last one. In fact, that applies to this month when the folk train, featuring Sheffield Folk Chorale, is on Tuesday 22nd. Incidentally, if you get train-sick or don't fancy a whole night of four part harmony Christmas Carols but would like to hear some top folk stuff that night, then Jack's Rake are playing at Burton Street ... Should be a good one! We're, also, playing our monthly residency at the Crookes Social Club this Thursday, the 10th. Full details of both gigs available at each of the links below. Briny Reck
Sheffield is Folk City. My favourite for spontaneity, atmosphere and quality is Fagans on Broad Lane. Musicians will turn up and play most nights of the week.

Anyway .... Let's not forget the Red House on Monday Evenings. A growing number of musicians returning to a pub with a long history of folk music. Maybe we'll see you there one day, Jim.
