RANT 2:

Club Xes - A three pound "entrance charge" slapped on us at the door

Carbs, dear, Club XES has ALWAYS charged an entrance fee after 11pm, what I always do, is to get there before 11pm so as to get in free!

From when I started going in 2002, it was £2, then it went up to £3 a few years ago.

Pity about the entrance fees, but Dempseys charges the same, after 10pm (one hour earlier, mind...)

At least Sheffield isnt like some other cities where all the gay clubs usually charge £5 -or more- after 10 or 11, although at least in London and Manchester there are odd venues which may let you in free all night, but they are usually the empty or c**p ones...

Well if I did fall asleep at the bar Spider dear it would be due to boredom and the club being quiet and crap - as soon as I realised I was sleepy I took myself off and was lucky to get the only taxi waiting ! - how did you get on anyway did you score later on ;-)

If you imagine Elvis soundtracks, 40’s saucy tunes, 50’s rock and roll, hostess trolleys, doilies and plastic flowers and a whole host of people in vintage dress that’s exactly what your gonna get.

***Childrens Area***

We are pleased to have Activity Sheffield at the event this year, who regularly attend Endcliffe Park, and who will encourage children at the event to take an active part in their activities. They cover a wide range of activities aimed at getting children fit, but also keeping them entertained, with the old favourite games that us older generation use to play when we were youngsters too. We would also encourage the parents to take part, get fit, have fun and a giggle with your kids with this great team.

We would encourage the children at the event to also visit the adoption service stall at the event where they shall be providing face painting for the children.

There will also be the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service in attendance with a Fire Engine, which is bound to keep the children entertained.

Whilst there is quite a lot to keep the children entertained don’t forgot the new improved children’s play area in Endcliffe Park, which the city council should be given great credit for.

The Pride Committee would like to stress, however, we do encourage children to attend the event with their families that we ask parents to keep a very close eye on their loved ones, as it will get quite busy.
