No, from what I have heard, Climax is SATURDAY 19TH; it switches to the Sat because of the students' end of year bash.

I'm just off to the GALA Meeting tonight, Sat 5th, 5.30pm at Bank St. Arts. Its just a couple of doors along from the BOARDWALK. The cafe/bar at BSA will be open for drinks/food.

Hope to see many of you there!!!

...After the GALA Meeting last night, it has been decided to hold a GAY POETRY EVENING at a place and date TBC in late January/Early Feb. The venue will be a pub or similar with bar facilities, so it will be a chance to have a quiet drink, socialise and discuss LGBT Arts and the planned Festival.

ALL LGBT POETS, WRITERS, also ACOUSTIC MUSICIANS, and their friends are welcome to participate; email dan@alacroart.com for info on how to get involved; DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE FORUM MAIL, as there is far too little space compared to my regular inbox!

Lions Lair isn't the place to be, it's the last place I would be seen in on NYE, why would I spend NYE in the biggest ****hole in Sheffield? Hmmm.

I have been every pee'd of this weekend with the scene. I always like to start off with Sanctuary, then to Dempsey's, but I wasn't paying £4 to get in Sanctuary, then £3 for Dempsey's. Not to mention that Milk Bar thing will have not been open late, and it was hardly busy!!! I also had a confrontation with this black guy who was religous, and was homophobic, how on earth he was able to get in Dempsey's is beyond me. I had a bit of a tussle with him, but I was the one escorted downstairs, ffs.

Not one place on the scene has mostly postives rather than negatives! I'm sick and tired of people who get away with murder in Dempsey's too, then allowed back in the next day? Not to mention that I think a lot of the staff know who is drug dealing in that place.

aaron1867... i find your bitchyness about the venues quite amusing! It's a good read if nothing else! Have you considered going to places that are full of positives, maybe you would cheer up a bit!

Re Dempseys staff, i think they are always very fair, and hardly ever escort people out. Plus re drug dealing, i know Colin (the owner), takes a strong stand against this, and they do as much as is feasable with the resources they have to avoid it. But without full on cavity searches (which would be interesting in the entrance way i guess!), who is ever going to be able to stop little bags of pills and powder being exchnged hands in a crowded club? No one, thats who.

Oh so its not me then who find his posts towards Dempseys quite amusing :)

I find the staff very friendly as well, apart from one. They are nearly as friendly as Lions Lair staff + owners :hihi::hihi:

No, it's not just you SpiderPete!

And haha, we're all a very friendly bunch, hence why Lions Lair's and Dempseys staff get on so well!

I am not having a go at Dempsey's really, I am just concerned because lately it hasn't been as good. Like I mentioned earlier they play some songs 6/7 times a night, the prices for some drinks are laughable and the toilets queing upstairs is obsurd.

And to be fair I have nothing but bad words for LL, I am sorry but the place is a joke. The toilets are a joke, the bouncer is a joke and the fact that people can go in there and smoke is a joke and £4 to get in if you fancy going in there after 4am is just loltastic. It's a good job I don't bother going, because if I went and ended up getting <removed> of by people smoking and just that <removed> doorman, then I would end up having to think about reporting it, but thankfully I just don't bother with it at all. It's the last place I bother with on the scene. Not to mention the bouncers blind eye to drugs.
