plekhanov Posted September 19, 2008 Share Posted September 19, 2008 Group's 'homophobic' banner slammed A man who fathered a child for a lesbian couple angrily confronted a group of Fathers 4 Justice protesters as they demonstrated with a banner against "Lesbo Dads". The break-away New Fathers 4 Justice group held their first protest march in a quiet residential street in Bristol, outside the constituency office for Health Minister Dawn Primarolo. Last week F4J was closed down by its founder Matt O'Connor, but days later, the New F4J was set up by Nigel Ace and Mark Harris, who made a rooftop protest on the house of Deputy Labour Leader Harriet Harman in June. But their first stunt under "new management" has attracted criticism for being homophobic. Dressed in their usual superhero attire, the members shouted slogans and played a loud siren while carrying a 10 foot banner which read "Kids need real Dads not Dawn's Lesbo Dads". Unfortunately for the 10-strong group, Mrs Primarolo had left her office in Chessel Street 20 minutes earlier. They claim Mrs Primarolo's backing for the Human Embryology and IVF bill signalled a dismissal of the need for a male role model in a family by making it easier for single females or lesbian couples to use sperm donors. The disturbance attracted residents out of their houses, several of which angrily confronted the group. One man, who did not want to be named, questioned the F4J's attitude and revealed he had been a sperm donor for two lesbian friends whose baby was born six months ago. He said: "I came out to confront them because of what I saw as blatant homophobia. I don't think they have intentionally come out to rile against homosexual rights or feminism but they are not doing themselves any favours. "The core of what they want is equality and that is what feminism and homosexual rights is about."[/QUote] It's one thing to campaign for greater access to your own kids but quite another to campaign against other people having kids. Such actions simply underline the extent to which (as was pretty obvious all along) that many of these so called 'father's rights' campaigners are in reality campaigning for patriarchy and the domination of women. TESTPASS Posted September 19, 2008 Share Posted September 19, 2008 How do you draw that conclusion then ? maybe its women that have now having got equal status deciding that the rights of a man no longer have any meaning in there own small minded world ? how do you not know that they are against the break up of the partnership of man and women in sociaty ? and actually, as the law is all for the woman it seems when it comes to children, the farthers feel a bit cheesed off about it ? Its not just F4J that are against the bringing up of same sex people. most religions ect understand that children need a balanced upbringing of both male and female. have a go at religion if you are feeling any pressure from sociaty about your sexuality. they are far worse than farthers 4 Justice I bet. What you mean aside from them mounting a demonstration not for what they think should be their rights but against the rights of lesbians? maybe its women that have now having got equal status deciding that the rights of a man no longer have any meaning in there own small minded world ? What have the rights of fathers who’ve separated from the mothers of their children got to do with lesbians having children? how do you not know that they are against the break up of the partnership of man and women in sociatiy and actuall as the law is all for the woman it seems when it comes to children, feel a bit cheesed off about it ? Then why are they demonstrating against lesbians having children instead of for greater access to their own children? The existence of other bigoted groups in the world doesn’t magically stop NF4J from being bigots. shims Posted September 19, 2008 Share Posted September 19, 2008 It's not hard to see that this somewhat tabloid-style term "lesbo-dads" describes yet another situation where the role of the father is being marginalised (to nothing more than sperm-donor) and this is exactly the sort of thing that Fathers For Justice are rightly trying to struggle against. I can see why men who have been legally denied their fundamental rights by our court sytem would find the notion offensive.
