Heyesey
A child cannot be conceived without a man, yet western society seems to be allowing the erosion of the natural family unit. Total non sequitur. That a child requires a man to help conceive it says nothing about the usefulness of family units; and it's never actually been proven that one man/one woman/their children IS a natural family unit. It's merely what society has come to find most acceptable.
Berberis
It'd be pretty hard NOT to have both, since what he refers to is not the dominance of women, but the domination of women, by men. Well that would be the correct english.
Berberis
Of course you can have both. Perhaps you're thinking of domination by women? The dominance of women means women are dominant.
Heyesey
Well that would be the correct english. Indeed it would; it is; and it's what he posted in the first place.
shims
it's never actually been proven that one man/one woman/their children IS a natural family unit. I'm not sure why it would need to be proven. It's fairly obvious that two people and the offspring they have produced and subsequently rear, is a natural family unit. Heyesey
I'm not sure why it would need to be proven. It's fairly obvious To whom? On what grounds? All I see is that it seems obvious to those who don't consider the effect of ten thosuand years of social pressure to conform.
shims
I find this very strange. Ok, to turn things around the idea of two people and the offspring they have produced and subsequently rear NOT being a natural family unit seems preposterous. arachnophobe
The dominance of women means women are dominant. Not if it's the domination of women by men, which I'm pretty sure is what Plekhanov meant.

Ok, to turn things around the idea of two people and the offspring they have produced and subsequently rear NOT being a natural family unit seems preposterous. On what grounds? And to whom? You can't just say "it is so because it is so" and expect that argument to hold water.
plekhanov
It's not hard to see that this somewhat tabloid-style term "lesbo-dads" describes yet another situation where the role of the father is being marginalised (to nothing more than sperm-donor) and this is exactly the sort of thing that Fathers For Justice are rightly trying to struggle against. I can see why men who have been legally denied their fundamental rights by our court sytem would find the notion offensive. Why? What business is it of theirs if men who aren't them donate sperm and women who aren't them use that sperm to have children? What has that got to do with their claims that men get unfairly treated by the family court system? A child cannot be conceived without a man, yet western society seems to be allowing the erosion of the natural family unit. Children have been raised in households other than what you consider 'natural' for as long as humans have existed, why should we suddenly turn round and try to impose a uniform structure for the 'family unit' now? Especially when all the evidence would suggest that the children of lesbians of every bit as well those in 'natural family units'?
