I have given blood a couple of times, but the last time I went I think the rules on residency in a malarial country in the last ten years had been changed? So I had my blood tested instead, they asked me to wait for a results letter in the post, I moved away...

If I went back now then it's been over ten years since living overseas, so I wouldn't need to be tested. Sadly I can't for other reasons, but when I can again I will!

I give blood as often as I can, but being partial to piercings and tattoss makes it mroe sporadic than I'd like. However I can donate again iN December and will try to get into platelets too as I now work in town so getting to the centre is much easier.

I personally think its such a simple thing to do that can help so much.

I used to give blood, but since my blood pressure rocketed through the roof and I'm now on tablets to stabilise it, I actually can't. When/If it gets back to normal and I can come off the tablets - I'll be back giving blood, or platelettes as I used to give.

i felt guilty having not donated when i work in a transfusion lab. Braved the fear of the apple corer...sorry i menat needle and started donating and it was all fine and danady the first few times. Haven't managed to donate at all this year because my haemoglobin level has been below the cut off everytime i've tried. Am now munching lots of green leafy veg and we'll see if i have better luck next time

i would have presented them with quite a challenge, since I've never went as i assumed my using cannabis would be frowned upon ;)

It's more the "Injecting" drugs thing they frown upon, if you just smoke the cannabis you should be ok!!!

Yes, in our place, if they can't get the donors, they come after the staff!!! They don't offer us the local anaesthetic either, I once asked and I just got laughed at!!!! :hihi: :hihi:

I've never heard of anyone offering local anesthetic for blood donation. There are two groups that I donate to....The Red Cross and The Community Blood Center and neither of them offer it that I am aware of. It really isn't all that painful but I suppose everyone registers pain differently.

Edit: Just noticed the :hihi: at the end of your post......you were being funny, weren't you?***
