do you know of the Sampson family who were landowners in Beauchief or if there are any serviving members left in the area.

One of the Sampson family owned a house built possibly where Beauchief rise is now called the Folds. Does anyone have a photo of this house?

The Sampson family had something to do with the ponds at/ near the Abbey

i think he was called George Sampson he stocked the ponds with trout.

His wife was called Blanche and she was originally from Canada(Vancovver island) and called Rushton.

I thought Blanche had married george sampson but I think he was married to Hannah lol

one day i may get it right.

I don't ever remember being told about a 5th child

Violetta worked for them many years and was still there in 1923 when philip anthony was born. i have a doll she brought Josephine when she was born.

The Sampson boys were Birkdale boys and St Davids lampeter

Josphine was state taught.

Here's a picture of George Sampson: http://www.picturesheffield.com/cgi-bin/picturesheffield.pl?_cgifunction=form&_layout=picturesheffield&keyval=sheff.refno=s08498

The 1925 directory mentions "George Sampson & Son, auctioneers, valuers, architects, surveyors, land & estate agents & fire assessors, 1 Camping Lane, Woodseats; Ridgeway & 4 Corn Exchange". The directory also mentions Harry Redgate Sampson and Edward A. Sampson at the same Woodseats address.
