The new Doctor Who

- if only they could get rid of Donna!

I can see why you say that, but after these two episodes I tend to disagree. She is starting to form as a character. Not just there for comedy anymore; the bit where she was alone in the Sontaran ship felt really real and I felt her vulnerability.

Exactly, the problem that people are having with Catherine Tate is that she has established herself as a comedian with lots of various characterisations, so, she suffers from typecasting, when finding someone for Doctor Who, they should have found someone unknown or someone who hasn't established themselves in any particular form of character.

The stories are brilliant though, next weeks looks excellent.

Do I detect another spin off possibility next week. :hihi:

Of course those of us with extremely long memories will know that in the very first series the Doctor (as played by relatively doddery old William Hartnell had a granddaughter called Susan, so I suppose the idea of him having a daughter isn't beyond the bounds of possibility. I guess that back then we didn't think of her looking like a cross between Geri Halliwell and Lara Croft. Oh well, wait and see I suppose.

;) so, surely this character should be his great-granddaughter? - or even his great-great g-d? (hehehe)

(I hope she won't turn out to be.. *coff* An Unearthly Child... )

They will have to explain a lot of stuff though, I mean, he has said in the past that if there was another Time Lord he would be able to sense their existence, hence why he couldn't sense the Master because of the watch, so, let's see them explain this little lot away.

I completely agree with you! I really disliked Catherine Tate in this in the one off Christmas show and in the later shows, she spoiled Dr Who for me. However these last 2 episodes feel like there is less of an amalgamation of all her comedy characters and more of the new assistant in her acting. Perhaps it is just going to take time to get used to her in a completely different role.
