Citroen Picasso - Speedo reading has been replaced by two dashes

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping anyone can advise on what to do next. Speedo reading on my Pistachio seems to have disappeared (apart from v. briefly when you switch the ignition on) and then just appears as two dashes. The handbrake warning message also comes on when you start it up (which it didn't do before )

The picasso has a bit of a reputation for mental dash display units, hope its not terminal as a new one is c£500. One thing that you can try is to disconnect the battery for 2 minutes, it's under the drivers seat. When you reconnect the battery it forces the on board computer to reboot itself and re-establish communications with the processor in the dash, it's certainly worth a try, if you take it to a citroen dealer they will put it on the diagnostic machine and then tell you you need a new dash unit and charge you for the pleasure, they don't seem to have heard about the battery disconnect trick. If you google for "picasso forum" there are a couple of good sites out there with lots of guidance and help available.

I got rid of my picasso and bought a nissan 2.5 years ago, no mental dash boards with nissan.

Is it a common thing with picasso`s then?

Ours keeps going a bit bonkers, you`ll fill it up with fuel and it dosn`t register it and says you have no miles left in the tank (just -- on display) and on red.

Sometimes it`ll stay like that for days even though you know its full, then all of a sudden it`ll right itself.

Should we try that with ours?

It's actually under the passenger seat - the battery - unless you have a LHD picasso.

To get to the battery, you have to tilt the passenger seat forward - there's two little catches at the back of the runners that you need to depress. Then swing the seat forward. It helps if the head rest if off.

How much fuel do you put in at once? On ours, it takes at least about 10 litres for it to register. As you say, you know that there's fuel in but the fuel gauge says otherwise.
