I have found out the two streets where the family lived have had their names changed, which didn't help me when I was searching for the old addresses. I believe they were changed by the Sheffield council when they took over Woodhouse in the 1920's so as to lessen the confusion over the same street names as in Sheffield. I will be off to the Wakefield Archives next week to find the records out, I'll keep you posted of what I find so that other researchers do not have the same problem.
