John
Ok, it my day off today, flicked over channel after watching countdown and adverts were on. From beginging to end, it was none stop advertising aimed at children. Should this be banned? Surely this is putting burden on parents to either fork out a fortune or having to say no and let your kids down. Does the constanst "can I have" get to you? Too lazy to set up a poll for this one. Phanerothyme
It is banned in Sweden, which has always portrayed itself strong on child protection (smacking is illegal etc.). In this case I think it is a good idea to prevent advertisers targeting children under a given age. What age? Not sure.
Moon Maiden
I have witnessed this. A constant barage of adverts. Generally my kids don't yet seem to be affected by it. My favourite of all the adverts is the baby wee wee. A little boy doll with a full working penis!! Just what every father wants to buy his daughter. Phanerothyme
The counter argument is that kids need to learn how to 'read' adverts at a young age, in order to cope with the relentless vbarrage of it that will surround them in adult life.
