PopT
Can anyone tell me where Sutts Hall is or was at Wadsley. I think it may have been near Wadsley Manor but I just do not know. Cannot find anything about it. I'm sure someone out there can enlighten me. Happy Days! PopT

PopT
Hugh In the 1851 Census for the village of Wadsley,Sutt Hall is listed as being next to Park Rock. Park Rock is listed at each side of Sutt Hall all occupied by families. The Woolhouse family are living at Sutt Hall and are listed as follows William Woolhouse - Head then Martha Woolhouse -Wife and 5 children listed. I hope you can throw some light on this mystery. HughW
I think those addreses are Park Nook and Nutt Hall. Though I can't find references to those either If anyone else wants to give an opinion, the census reference is: 1851 piece 2335 folio 252 page 9 The enumeration district description doesn't help. It lists places in a completely different order from that followed in the returns, and doesn't mention the above addresses. Hugh
DUFFEMS
Hugh, I agree that it is PARK NOOK and NUTT HALL but, to give some perpective in terms of location, on the image going back (number one of the PARK NOOK numbers has been changed to CRABTREE. Does that give any indication as to the actual location? Duffems. (Should read number eight, don't know why the smiley face has come on!)
PopT
Hugh W/Duffems I believe Crabtree Lane was re-named to Laird Road. I never thought about the first letter of the names being an N, thanks for that. Still looking for the whereabouts of the Nutt Hall, I do hope I crack the mystery where the rellies lived, with help from yourselves. I wonder if it is noted on any old maps? Happy Days!
