sierraman
The latest practice of using spotlights when visibility is good drives me mad! It seems common practice on the motorway, when in fact I believed it was illegal to use spotlights during periods of good visibility? Out of interest does anyone know the rules on this? HotPhil
... There were loads on the M1 yesterday. Including one nutter doing 50 or so in the middle lane as I hurtled up at 70 in the correct lane. Even with all kinds of fog light flashings etc he/she still pottered along in the middle with front and rear fogs on.
InvalidUser
If you're referring to front fog lights I think people believe it makes their car look better / cool / rad. They should be used when visibility is seriously impaired, typically in fog. Using them in good visibility carries a £30 fine in the unlikely event of the driver encountering a police car that hasn't got better things to do. See section 27, item #2 here http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si1989/Uksi_19891796_en_4.htm
alchresearch
I'm sick of them. From a distance on a flat straight road they really dazzle, far more than standard headlamps which are at least dipped.
sierraman
I'm at a loss to understand why switching on fog lights would make you look cool? It's like the numpty's with four exhaust pipes sticking out the back of a 1100cc Citroen Saxo! ... just looks ridiculous ... like they have covered the car in glue and ram raided Halfords!
