My Mum was born on Springvale Rd., not too far from Martin St., but not too sure if you'll remember her family as her dad had an allotment so grew almost all their own fruit and veg. The time frame might be too early too - they were there in the 20's through to at least the 40's. There were quite a few girls and they were apparently known collectively as the Pickering girls.
