Golden Boy
Are there any local bands worth seeing in the 'Upfront' style these days? Is Nesreen Shah still singing in Sheffield?
Golden Boy
No takers then... I'll try a broader tack. Are there any bands around at the moment in Sheffield with a mainly jazz rock/funk sound/groove/bent/leaning/influence/yearning/nostalgic for the Crusaders etc etc... Bennett Jube
Have a listen to Jube. Google: 'Jube Sheffield'. I can't post a web address because this site thinks it's spam! We play around Sheffield regularly. Unfortunately we don't have any gigs booked for 2009 yet ... but look out for us in February and March! Myself and our singer are playing as a duet at The Ivory Lounge (just off West St, near Lounge Bar) on Xmas Eve afternoon but that will be a more chilled out vibe. I hope you like the sound of the tracks on our myspace. We play original material but throw in the occasional cover when we play as a duet. Pete 3000
Ninio were ace but they've split up. Grey Cooper love party are great too. There's a decent funk night at the Harley - wall of balls. They have a bit of live stuff.
DelMonte
Like Pete just said The Shakedown also rolls out the funk pumps but don't think we're doing a night till February now! My latest mix has got a fair wedge of funk on it... http://rs214.rapidshare.com/files/142961960/JOHNTY_S_30TH.MP3IZAY_mp3.mp3
