kenfozzy
Does anyone have any memories of a group of dissabled people who formed a club whith the help of The British Red Cross on Queens Road. The majoraty of the members had the Three Wheeled 'Invacar' mobility vehicles. These were petrol driven, open to the elements, and had a 'Tiller' bar, not a steering wheel. My family were fortunate to be helpers at their club and many happy years of holidays and other such things like Fishing at Forrest Lock at Retford, and Langold Park to name a few of the outings. Our family name is Foster and my Dad who drove the Redgates van used to pick up any member who had the missfortune of their wheel chair breaking down. only_me
I know this is a bit off subject but there was a little scrap yard which had these cars in. In fact it was a stones throw from where you mention on Granville St. I used to go in the yard with a kid in the 1970s and his dad ran the place. I think their surname might have been Mosley. Here is some info on the Invacar. http://www.3wheelers.com/endinva.html http://www.3wheelers.com/invacar.html
weersmefags
Don't know about the group, but remember the ice blue INVACAR and in particular a man called Mr. Martin who used to tow a trailer with his INVACAR and sell sweets from the trailer to the kids on the Greenhill estate this would have been in the 1950s
