soft ayperth
I can't go bk 400 years that the pdf file does. I can only go bk to the 1950s when Smelter Wood was bordered by farmers' fields on the Stradbroke side of it and by vegetation and private dwellings on the other side. Now when I see it on the map, I see a horrible looking highway (I've seen it with my own eyes) that doesn't fit with the ambience. Back in the 5os we used as kids to play in those woods crossing the brook on a rope swing. It was covered in bluebells in the Spring. To think that as kids we used to chop down the odd tree for firewood for bonfire night makes me feel awful now, but we didn't know any better and nobody told us any different. I hope it can be maintained and upgraded. When these green areas go, you miss them.
