Dimitri 11
Rumour has it that the Tollgate has been bought and will be converted into a Khan's restaurant and bar. Anybody else heard this or know if it is true?

Dimitri 11
It open about two weeks before christmas ,i went in. Yeah I heard it opened Crimbo time but thought it was just for a couple of weeks. Is it still open then?
dan2802
I'd agree with dazzler1, its been closed and boarded up for ages. I'm a Pitsmoor lad (grew up there) and TBH, its always been a poor pub. The Pitsmoor Hotel was always OK though. The Sportsman was my local for many years while i 'cut my drinking teeth'.
dazzler1
may i ask how old you are dan2802 as the tollgate was a cracking, very busy pub until 1998 and probably turned over what the bay horse, pitsmoor hotel and sportsman did collectively,it was at one stage the 2nd biggest beer selling pub in south yorkshire in years gone by.what killed it was the closure of the pitsmoor wmc. Yeah but it was open at Crimbo. Nobody said it hadn't been boarded up for ages. It wasn't that bad whenever ive been in and the Bay Horse and Pitsmoor are literally 30 seconds away. It's always better if there are a few pubs nearby I think, if one isn't too bad have 4 or 5 in the better ones and you won't notice as much:)
