I was born 1949 on lansdowne rd next to the barbers., I remember a bloke [georgie?] use to go round canvassing at election time, singing "vote vote for mr hill" can't remember the rest, all the kids use to follow him singing along. Friends were Michelle Smith,John Hammond, who's father had the bakery on Lansdowne, Neil Kelly, me a Jonhson. We left about 62, oh to be back there.

He was a solid looking fella, was like something out of a musical, like pied piper, yes don't think he was all there, there was another character alway wore long coat and big wellie's whatever the weather, looked like he'd been down a mine.

Does anyone remember a Mick Riley who i believe lived at the top of Pearl st in the 60s and 70s his mom at one time lived on the Lansdowne flats at the bottom of Cemetery rd and was a well known face in the pubs up and down London rd i think she was once employed as a cleaner in the Pheasant pub on London rd around the 80s time.

My mom was raised on Pearl Street, about the time you were there

Her name was Patricia Linley she has 2 brothers Jack and Micheal..she asks if anyone remembers any of these ..Doris Kemp, Madge Hopkins, Audrey Barber, Pam Dunger, Judith Barton, Jean Crowe, Barbara Robinson and finally the terrible duo, Kieth Wild and Don Brown who went to St Matthias.

keith wild lived next door to us on beeley st.,

he once lifted me up to look into the pub at the bottom of beely st., & dropped me crashing my chin down on the window sill, several broken teeth later!!!!!!

keith died a couple of years ago.
