Plain Talker Posted January 30, 2009 Share Posted January 30, 2009 Many years ago there were three ponds, on the series of playing fields, going down the hill toward Norfolk Park. When St Aidan's Road, Norfolk Park was first built in the 20's to the 30s, it was originally called Arbourthorne Road, and the intent was for it to go all the way from the Granville road area, up to Hurlfield Road. However, this plan fell through for some reason. They could not connect the two halves of the road. You can see evidence of the original plan in the numbering of Arbourthorne Road, as the numbers are in the two-hundreds and up, where the road starts by the former Fellbrigg Pub Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
