What can you expect to pay for a breakfast?

Had a very good Sunday morning breakfast at the Rivelin Valley Cafe. Can thoroughly recommend the food, the choice of menu and the setting which is superb! Plenty of Sundays papers etc.

But, to pay between £5 (ordinary size) and nearly £7 for a large size breakfast which does NOT include bread or toast or top ups of tea/coffee I feel is very expensive! What do Forum readers expect to pay?

No doubt you could spend £15 if you went into some of the hotels . Weathersppons traditional breakfast with tea and toast is around £4-10 although yesterday the service at the one i went in was appaling usualy they are very good

Well, £5 might be a bit expensive for a small café, but of course it's a lovely setting, and as bus man wrote, it compares with Wetherspoons for example. Considering that some places charge about £1.50 for a cup of tea or coffee, I don't think it is too unreasonable. I might try it next weekend!

I'd gladly pay up to £7 if you got 2 eggs, sausage and bacon and the said products were of a high quality. Would also for that price want mushrooms, tomato, beans and black pudding though.

The sort of places that charge £2.50 you get horrible meat as a rule.

The food at Rivelin Valley is usually pretty good - so dont mind paying a bit extra. If you want a cheap & cheerful breakfast - Perfect Pie on South Rd in Walkley is only about £3:50/£4:00 incl tea, Food Fusion on Barber Rd, Commonside is good half way house of quality/price (but shut on a sunday). Endcliffe Park is the same price as Rivelin - but with not as nice food - but its got a good setting - so you pays your money and takes your choice...

my cafe serves a massive full breakfast at £3.50 (2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, mushrooms, black pud, spam, toms and beans and 2 toast at £3.50. Its on Carr Hill Industrial estate, Doncaster just off jcn 3 M18 and well worth a trip. Try the best at Parkside Diner.
