Rivelin6
Hi Rivelin6, So far as I know my folks lived on Princess St Attercliffe- Tom died in between 1922-36 so far as I can find out. I am searching on Ancestry and think I have found him but a date of death would help. But having said that I don't want to be a bother and I thank you for your help in checking your records. Fascinating stuff this forefathers business:) Regards Nan There is a Thomas Kay dying in Sheffield in the June Quarter of 1934 but it doesn't give the burial place. HughW
Nanrobbo, It would help to know when Tom was born (as the death and burial records list ages). The Thomas who Rivelin6 found in 1934 was 78 and was buried at City Road: Burials in Grave Number 8100, Section U of City Road Cemetery Kay, Leonard (child, age 3y10mo). Died at Maltravers St; Buried on April 14, 1888 in Consecrated ground; KAY, Thomas (Joiner, age 78 ). Died at 221 Fitzhubert Rd; Buried on June 11, 1934 in Consecrated ground; (from Sheffield Indexers) Hugh
nanrobbo
Thank you both, My Tom Kay was born about 1886 and I'm fairly sure I've found him on Ancestry. His father was also Thomas which made it more difficult. Thank you once again I think it's wonderful that I can ask help from the other side of the world. Bless you Nan xx

maidinsheff
Hi - I am also tracing my ancestors. I am looking for Ada Wright (nee Matthews). My great grandad Philip Wright was living in Sanderson Street in 1911 aged 51 and is shown as a widow living with his five children. Family heresay has Ada dying from Yellow Fever which she caught when they lived in South Africa between 1900 and pre 1911. I know she made it home to Sheffield but the trail goes cold there. Any chance you could have a look to see if she is buried in Attercliffe or Tinsley?
hillsbro
... Family heresay has Ada dying from Yellow Fever which she caught when they lived in South Africa between 1900 and pre 1911... The cause of death would of course be on Ada's death certificate. According to freebmd the only likely death entry is of an Ada Wright who died aged 44 in Sheffield in Jan-Mar 1910 (Volume 9c Page 336).
