Bruce_Shark
As I posted in the "other" thread: ...But people can help themselves. Up to last winter there were 1400 grit bins provided across the city, most of them on minor roads, footpaths and pedestrian areas for people to use on a self-help basis. So you could use a shovel and spread some salt on the roads and pavements and help the community... firemantim
I'm very interested in this string. I was at my local pub on Friday 6th (very icy & old snow). The Landlady insisted that she couldn't clear the car park of ice, as their trade magazine (I think "The Publican"), had said they would be liable if they tried to clear it and someone hurt themselves. I agree with Moose(?), it drives me mad when people believe and repeat everything they hear and read. To get home I had to slip, slide and fall several times, but had no injuries. Surely, if a BUSINESS is inviting clients to use their premises via a specific route, they have a responsibilitty to attempt to make it safe, and could be sued if someone was to fall and be injured? P.s. we love the pub, and wouldn't dream of making a spurious claim, but some would!
CottonTop
Have you last three not read anything I've posted there? Did it slip you by? You have NO CHANCE of a successful claim in these circumstances. NO CHANCE. Don't blame the americans, the french, blame the media for printing such rubbish, and you for believing it. Sorry to rant, but you completely passed by what I said (being a PI solicitor I'd like to think I know a few things about this subject) Moosey, you must forgive Rich, bless his little heart. He thinks every evil in the world is the responsibility of Americans.
Aries22
I went to the Doctors yesterday, even the snow and ice in front of the Doctors had not been cleared.
Harleyman
I blame the Yanks, and all those annoying "no win no fee" claim companies who advertise constantly on the TV! The Americans have a "sue or be sued" policy for everything! And we in the UK, seeing as we HAVE to do everything America does, have followed suit! We could send you some snow ploughs and a few thousand tons of salt on LEND LEASE if your PM requested it 12 inches of snow and the whole country grinds to a halt
