Doing forum favours

Recommended Posts

I'd like to thank everyone for giving me the courage to pick up the pieces of what was a shattered existence and start living again.

I was ready to give up before I came on here and now there's no stopping me:D

I had no idea being nurse after my op was so traumatic. You should've said. :hihi:

I had so much help last year I was overwhelmed and can't thank people enough - including the OP for the cat taxi help.

I've helped a fair bit behind the scenes with advice and support for people who've needed it in my specialist areas. I also helped Fox at her Festival and did stuff after the floods via the forum grapevine. Those things were helping out strangers though (strangers at the time). Mostly, the forum's been a source of friends, and you help your friends, don't you?

Biggest thanks go to mojo and JoeP though.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Lots of people here have at one time or another done favours for people they've never met, but are part of the community we have here :)

What favours have you done for fellow forumers?

Has anybody here done you a favour you're grateful for?

i once picked a forum member up from the train station and drove her home, another time helped check out a car alternator for a lady member, never met either member before or since

A big thank you tonight to *Peaches* for babysitting in the vet's carpark whilst I took Brude in. I'd already asked a couple of people and drawn a blank, so posted on the pets forum, and *Peaches* volunteered

There are people I've been talking to for so long on here that I don't really think you can call them strangers anymore. I still think places like SF are slowly taking the place of the local pub - which can only be good news when there's not alot else binding communities together just now

uksmurf very kindly came and rigged up my fusebox when it had given up the ghost. LukesDaddy carted what turned out to be a very heavy piece of furniture.

EagleWeb worked on a Sunday to fit flooring when we had got ourselves into a major tizz (Fitting a new kitchen is one thing. Discovering that we had to replace rotten joists and floorboards first is another thing altogether!).

auto98uk and all the helpful people in the Techie forum have helped me to revive my daughter's computer several times over.

Loads of people have supplied helpful information and advice. And the foodie forum supplied the white chocolate cheesecake for my father's birthday cake, officially the fastest-disappearing cake in the history of family celebrations.

When SF is at its best, it is very, very good indeed. Thanks, everyone.

I've had lots of favours in terms of advice, tips, and help with sourcing information or items. In particular, I'd like to thank cgksheff as he hnas always bee a mine of information.

I've also had some free christmas tree baubles from coachman, some free pokemon cards from flashbang, and a pumpkin from SamMT, when I was desperate for one and the shops had sold out a few years ago. Thank you all.

I'd like to thank Redrobbo for being a true gent, and helping me out with a fellow forummer who 'feigned' a serious problem at silly o' clock in the morning, and I hope that he's doing well. He's in my thoughts often. x

The forum is a wonderful place, with lots of wonderful people who would do anything for anyone, and in that sense, it is very representative of Sheffield.
