Stonecliffe Rd/harborough Ave/Circle circa 50s - hiddy (98...99...100... cominready or not) tiggy off ground, mabs near corsey edge, hopscotch (tormentin' lasses), winter warmers, lovesick for Brenda Barnsley (or was it her three wheel bike with a boot on the back) catapults (gats), pey shooters, stewen feights (naden what da lookin at), sheath knifes, trolleys bellyflop (more macho), bellyflop sledging down the 'death track' at the end of Waltheof Rd, meight n tater pie, chips n a cake wi scraps from Smedleys, Mr Maclennans homemade breadcakes, toffee apples or a penny toffee lolly from the house next to the jennel on the Circle, referring to local dogs by surname -Rex Hudson, Bob Low, Paddy Ford, walking on edgestewens, conkers, Beechnut spearmint 1d from Pallisters slot machine (every 4th sale you got a free one-we used to keep count) Craigs ice-cream on Tues or Manfredis on Fri (cheaper & he did raspberry sauce), Jean Wright, Leanard macLennon, Leslie Hudson, Trevor Barker, ring a bell anyone? got to write it all down before I lose me mabs!
